In the midst of our wedding preparations, some traditional practices were done before our wedding. One common practice is Guo Da Li (过大礼) where the groom will send formal gifts to the bride’s family and the bride’s family will return half or similar as a token of harmony and prosperity between the two families. We held this on Saturday, 7 March 2009.

From the groom:

From the bride:

We also did the Bridal Bed (壓床 An Chuan) where traditionally, a good/auspicious date is selected to move the bridal bed into the right place. This was done on Thursday, 12 March 2009 by my parents.

There are several other practices in which we skipped due to impracticality and limited time factors. Nevertheless, these practices are slowly dissipating in the modern world and we can only do our best to accommodate them.
